Roger Dubuis, a brand we look to continue to disrupt traditional watchmaking, and Dr. Woo, a respected name in the urban culture scene, share a common desire to challenge conventions and explore new realms of creativity. With the Excalibur Monobalancier as their canvas, the collaboration between these two artistic powerhouses reaches new heights.
The dial of the Excalibur Dr. Woo Monobalancier serves as a gateway to the design vision. Three celestial bodies take center stage, representing the sun, Earth, and moon. The sun, engraved with meticulous lines and shapes, rotates between 10 and 11 o’clock, while the Earth covers the barrel and revolves between 4 and 5 o’clock, connected to the watch’s hands. At 8 o’clock, the moon reveals the inner workings of the balance wheel, adorned with delicate circles and lines.

Symbols and motifs play a significant role in the design of the Excalibur Dr. Woo Monobalancier. Dr. Woo’s signature spider, a symbol of strength and protection, is positioned between 2 and 3 o’clock. The spider, engraved on a sapphire disc inside the watch, serves as a connection to the artist. Additionally, a gold Roger Dubuis astral star, engraved on an inside sapphire disc, symbolizes the cosmic journey embarked upon by the watch. The caseback features inscriptions of the sun, Earth, and moon, along with Dr. Woo’s name.
The sleek black ceramic case of the Excalibur Dr. Woo Monobalancier reveals Roger Dubuis’ mastery of the material. The Maison’s refusal to compromise on the sharp case shape demonstrates its prowess and attention to detail. Crafted with exceptional durability and resistance to scratches, the ceramic case is both stylish and long-lasting. Dr. Woo’s symbolic language, with its geometric symbols, adorns the bezel, flange, and calf-skin leather strap, adding an enigmatic and compelling touch.

Powered by the automatic RD720SQ caliber, the Excalibur Dr. Woo Monobalancier exemplifies exceptional performance. The micro-rotor, covered by the sun, minimizes vibrations, while the balance wheel ensures stability and reduced sensitivity to shocks. With an impressive 72 hours of power reserve, this timepiece offers practicality and comfort. Hand-finished components and adherence to the Poinçon de Genève certification further attest to the exceptional craftsmanship of this contemporary work of art.
