Girard-Perregaux released a new, golden, addition to the Chrono Hawk collection that brings a lot of positive changes into the already well-established line.

The Chrono Hawk Pink Gold, the newest addition to the Chrono Hawk family.

Girard-Perregaux’s Hawk collection is well known for the angular and contemporary lines of its cases. The design of the new Chrono Hawk Pink Gold pays tribute to that heritage, but introduces a satin-finished rose gold case mixed with the modern materials we are usd to seeing from the brand, for a winning combination.

The dial of the Chrono Hawk Pink Gold displays a motif inspired by the shape of the famous Girard-Perregaux Tourbillon Bridges. The small seconds are viewed on a subdial at 3 o’clock, while the chronograph functions are displayed via a central direct-drive seconds hand and a subdial at 9 o’clock for the minutes. An aperture at 6 o’clock shows the date. All these functions are rimmed in rose gold, against the black polychrome face. The familiar striped indexes are back with bands of luminescent material to enable night reading.

A familiar face, with new materials.

On the wrist, the new Chrono Hawk is a sight stealer. It measures a cool 44 mm in diameter, and 15,85 mm in height. But if that makes it as little easier to knock around, there’s no reason to fear any damage. Girard-Perregaux has used ceramic for all of the components that stick out, including the bezel, the chronograph push piece parts, and the crown. It’s an extremely resistant and scratchproof material, with a Vickers hardness of 1,400.

The result is a dial that presents an unusual, but highly successful marriage between the darker elements and the warmth of the rose gold case, and the commitment between the old and the new goes all the way into the strap, which encases alligator in a high-tech rubber.

The beautiful finish of the GP03300 self-winding movement, seen through the sapphire case-back.

The Chrono Hawk Pink Gold houses the in-house GP03300 self-winding movement, which can be admired through a sapphire crystal case-back. This latest version of the Hawk is water-resistant to a depth of 100 meters. The price hasn’t been revealed yet, but the black ceramic version of Chrono Hawk, released last year, was priced at $17,000.
