Haute News: H. Moser & Cie Drops A New Streamliner Perpetual Calendar Concept Smoked Salmon
At Haute Time, we are quite keen on a salmon dial — but perhaps even more keen on a smoked salmon dial. This week, H. Moser & Cie. introduced the Streamliner Perpetual Calendar Concept Smoked Salmon and it’s a minimalist’s dream that merges the Streamliner collection’s signature aesthetics with the innovative perpetual calendar mechanism first revolutionized by the Perpetual 1.
The heart of this masterpiece is the HMC 812 hand-wound movement, a marvel of engineering that simplifies the display of time and date without compromising elegance. The smoked salmon dial, a nod to the rich heritage of haute horology, plays with light and shadow, offering a spectrum of hues from chocolate to gold, depending on the angle. This effect is enhanced by the dial’s griffé finish, reserved for the brand’s most special editions.
But what truly sets this timepiece apart is its dedication to minimalism. The watch does away with conventional indexes, logos, and sub-dials, allowing the smoked salmon dial to truly shine. The date and month are ingeniously displayed through the central hands, with a big date window at 4 o’clock and a power reserve indicator at 10 o’clock, seamlessly integrating functionality with the watch’s sleek design.
The Streamliner Perpetual Calendar Concept Smoked Salmon features three-dimensional hands, filled with Globolight® for visibility in low light, and the unique date display, tilted to 26° to align with the crown, showcase H. Moser & Cie.’s attention to detail and commitment to innovation. The leap year indicator, discreetly placed on the movement side, and the see-through sapphire case-back, reveal the intricate workings of the HMC 812 caliber, finished with Moser’s signature double horizontal stripes and an anthracite grey PVD coating.
This timepiece’s design is as captivating as its mechanics. Its steel cushion case, water-resistant to 12 ATM, and the integrated steel bracelet with its fluid, organic lines, ensure the watch sits perfectly on the wrist. The combination of brushed and polished surfaces, along with the subtly domed sapphire crystal, reflects the brand’s mastery over materials and form.
The Streamliner Perpetual Calendar Concept Smoked Salmon is a rare gem in the world of haute horlogerie, available as a limited edition (rightfully so) only for a leap year.
