Roger Dubuis has made quite a name for itself with its Double Flying Tourbillon movements. However, they also offer an enticing Single Flying Tourbillon. With that watch, the brand proves that being single ain’t such a bad thing. They completely redesigned the model, keeping its familiar profile but updating both the movement as well as the case.

One of the best things about the Excalibur Single Flying Tourbillon is that the 42mm case is water-resistant up to 100 meters. This is quite a depth for such a complicated piece, and it allows owners to truly enjoy it on a daily basis. This is also what set this watch apart from the competition. Next to its three-lug design, is one of its most distinct features, the star-shaped bridges of the skeleton movement. The mainspring barrel forms the center of the star, offering a 72-hour power reserve. Opposite of it, we find the flying tourbillon, the main feature of the watch. While asymmetrical in design, it is very pleasing to the eye and looks rather balanced. Of course, does the movement also carry the prestigious Geneva Seal as a testimony of its formidable pedigree.

Roger Dubuis offers the Excalibur Single Flying Tourbillon in four varieties. The most understated is the one with a titanium case featuring a dark DLC coating. Its sibling introduces a dash of color as it combines a case made of white gold with a blue CVD-coated flange and movement bridges. This is complemented by a calf leather strap in matching color. With EON Gold is Roger Dubuis bringing a unique pink gold alloy that has a significantly reduced tendency to tarnish. The brand gives this metal center stage in the Excalibur Single Flying Tourbillon by giving the flange and movement bridges a grey coating. All these three watches are limited to 88 pieces each. More rare is the boutique exclusive version made from EON Gold with a bezel set with baguette-cut diamonds. Of this one, just 8 pieces will be crafted. Unique is also that not only the hands and hour markers are applied with luminous material, but that it can be found on the bridges and even underneath the diamonds as well. As it is in different colors, this gives quite a spectacular light show for the Excalibur Single Flying Tourbillon, proving beyond any doubt that in some cases, being single is the best.
