Haute Highlights Of The 2021 LVMH Watch Week

Although digital, was this year’s edition of the LVMH Watch Week quite the event. Hublot, Zenith, and Bulgari all showed that not even a pandemic could slow down their drive to innovate, as they presented their latest watches. While they all impressed, these are our haute highlights;

Hublot Big Bang Tourbillon Automatic Orange Sapphire
With a new automatic tourbillon movement and a new color sapphire crystal, Hublot shows once again that it is hard to compete with its technical prowess. Creating a watch case from sapphire crystal is very difficult, as machining the material in the right shapes is exceptionally challenging. Giving this sapphire a color that comes out of the crystalization process even and vibrant is a challenge of its own.  With the Big Bang Tourbillon Automatic Orange Sapphire, Hublot shows that they have mastered both. The brand fitted the watch with its new automatic tourbillon movement. Using transparent sapphire crystal for many of its bridges makes it seem that part of the gear train is floating in mid-air, adding more complexity and appeal to an already outstanding watch.

Hublot Spirit of Big Bang Tourbillon 5-day Power Reserve Carbon White
Launched 7 years ago, has the Spirit of Big Bang become one of the pillars of the Hublot collection. With its characteristic tonneau shape case, it offers a different appeal than the Big Bang, yet with the same strong DNA. This is also clearly visible in the new Spirit of Big Bang Tourbillon 5-day Power Reserve Carbon White. For this watch, Hublot went high-tech, crafting its case from carbon fiber with white composite inclusions. It gives the watch an urban, stealth-like look that matches perfectly with the highly complex movement. This manufacture caliber has been skeletonized in a very modern way and features a tourbillon. The distinctly off-center architecture gives the watch added appeal, while a generous 5-day power reserve underscores its technical superiority.

Bulgari Octo Finissimo S Chronograph GMT
For decades ultra-thin watches had the air around them that they are fragile and delicate, something to wear on special occasions, not when enjoying an active lifestyle. Bulgari continues to change our perception of this with the new Octo Finissimo S Chronograph GMT. While its steel case is only a mere 8.75mm thick, Bulgari had enough room to fit in its caliber BVL 318 automatic movement, which offers not only a chronograph but also a GMT complication. Bulgari even achieved of giving the watch a water-resistant of 100 meters, which makes it not only capable of joining you at sportive activities but nearly begging for it. Its looks also support this, as the 43mm large case and matching bracelet featuring a beautiful combination of brushed and polished surfaces. The dial combines a velvet looking blue, with white subdials and blue details, giving the watch charisma with a casual touch.

Zenith Chronomaster Sport
With the Chronomaster Sport, Zenith introduced a new generation of El Primero powered sports watches. Thanks to its new movement, caliber 3600, is the chronograph capable of measuring ten seconds with every full rotation, with 1/10th of a second precision. Zenith frames this unique feature with a polished black ceramic bezel, which complements the version with the black dial, or offers some added contrast to the white dialed edition. The subdials are a nod to the first El Primero from 1969, as they all have a different color and are slightly overlapping. Pump-style pushers add even more dynamic to the design, while a 60-hour power reserve and a water-resistant up to 10ATM/100 meters are further testimony that we are dealing here with a very modern chronograph.
