De Bethune Launches Into A New Echelon With The DB28xs Starry Seas

De Bethune has ushered in a new era for the brand with the launch of the DB28xs Starry Seas. A historically smaller dial for the brand at 39mm, De Bethune has mastered the art of a smaller dial without compromising its design. In fact, the timepiece is a work of art itself as it is inspired by the Japanese philosophy of Wabi-Sabi, a technique that appreciates the beauty found in simplicity, imperfection, and the passage of time.

For Denis Flageollet of De Bethune,  DB28xs Starry Seas serves as a further testament to the brand’s dedication to achieving the unthinkable and pushing creative boundaries: “There is no point in working unless you wish to progress, and the only way to do that is to continually challenge your assumptions. To constantly go back to the drawing board and rethink the work in hand, helping it evolve by modifying an element, a process, a technique and sometimes making tiny, often imperceptible improvements.” Tiny improvements indeed, as the case measures just shy of 39mm at 38.7mm while the watch still retains the patented ‘floating lugs’ system of the DB28 family.

A world’s first, the DB28xs Starry Seas features its random guilloché pattern upon the dial, embodying the reflection of a starry sky in the sea through blue titanium.

Inside, the timepiece is powered by Caliber DB2005, which has been adapted to this miniaturization without losing its chronometric quality.
