After Porsche's convincing victory at 24 Hours of Le Mans, Chopard unviels the Superfast Chrono Porsche 919 Jacky Ickx Edition timepiece.
Porsche had an incredibly strong showing at this year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans, one of the world’s most prestigious automobile races. After 24 hours and 395 grueling laps, three LMP1 Porsche 919 Hybrids driven by Nico Hülkenberg, Mark Webber and Romain Dumas crossed the finish line first, second and fifth, securing a historic double victory for the Porsche team.
In celebration of the momentous occasion, Chopard, the official timing partner of Porsche motorsport, unveiled a limited edition Superfast Chrono Porsche 919 Jacky Ickx timepiece. The watch, which is limited to only 100 pieces, is dedicated to “Monsieur Le Mans” Jacky Ickx, a legendary driver with six Le Mans victories, and a long standing ambassador of Porsche and Chopard.
Porsche’s racing heritage is deeply embedded into the design of the timepiece. The dial features an inner-bezel ring that bares the famous colors of the racing helmet worn by Ickx throughout his career. The dark blue tones on the bezel stand out elegantly against a silver-toned dial, which echoes the metallic grey of the German manufacturer. Meanwhile, the stripes are reminiscent of the rear diffuser of the Porsche 919 Hybrid.
