Grammy-award-winning music artist and producer Swizz Beatz is a serious watch connoisseur. His excellent taste and understanding of the watch industry and its heritage have led to some fantastic collaborations in the past. Now he joins forces with De Bethune, yet in quite a different way. In 2020 he challenged master watchmaker and brand founder Denis Flageollet to create a watch that unites some signature features of previous De Bethune creations into a unique timepiece. Form and function should go hand in hand, with a focus on beauty, legibility, and user-friendliness. What Swizz Beatz dreamed, Flageollet and his team made a reality in Dream Watch 5.

The moon has always had a great attraction to humankind. So when the first clocks where developed, displaying the moon phase was among the first complications that where added. It went the same with the pocket watch, and even on the wristwatch, the moon phase indicator made an early entrance. The majority of these watches utilize a disc on which two moons are displayed and which is shown behind a window on the dial. But some watches are different and show the heavenly body closest to earth in its three-dimensional fashion.

By its very nature, fads come and go and the watch industry is has seen its fair share of them. However, the two-tone watch is one that has transcended trend-status to become a bona fide classic style. From old-world heritage brands to cutting-edge niche brands, just about every watchmaker has dipped their toes into the two-tone look—and sometimes in surprising ways. Held in Mexico-city, it is the stage on which bold new designs, often highlighting the unique culture of its host country are introduced. Also, this year we were not disappointed, with several incredible new watches, as well as interesting news!

Colors play an important role in watchmaking. Often not so much on the technical side but for sure on the visual one. They greatly contribute to the character of a timepiece. While paints and lacquers can relatively easily be made in any color desired, other materials are much harder color, but that didn't stop some brands from pursuing it anyway!

For them, Baselworld is often the main fair to introduce their new models, but that didn’t stop them to bring a few novelties to Geneva as well!
