For the last several decades, the watch industry has been dedicated to creating timepieces that make a difference. And this year, at the 2022 Concours of Elegance, A. Lange & Söhne will present a one-of-a-kind version of the 1815 Chronograph “Hampton Court Edition.” Set to be auctioned off in Geneva Phillips in Association with Bacs & Russo on November 6th, the proceeds of this special edition timepiece will go to the reputable charity by HRH The Prince of Wales, The Prince’s Trust.

This year marks the fifth year that A. Lange & Söhne has been a partner of the Concours of Elegance, an event at the Hampton Court Palace that curates a select of 60 of the rarest cars from around the world as well as exclusive mechanical timepieces pristinely crafted by A. Lange & Söhne — ultimately showcasing the intricate dynamic between the world of automobiles and high watchmaking. The new 1815 Chronograph, “Hampton Court Edition,” will undoubtedly be one of the show’s stars.

For the first time, the 1815 Chronograph features an 18-carat white-gold case with a black dial with sandstone-colored numerals and scales, creating an incredibly sophisticated look. It also sports the tachometer scale on the outside edge of the dial, which enables calculating average speeds — drawing a historical parallel between motorsport and time measurement. “The parallels between the worlds of classic automobiles and classic timepieces are striking,” states Lange CEO Wilhelm Schmid.

The hinged cuvette, hand-engraved logo of the Concours of Elegance adorns the caseback, concealing the Lange manually wound caliber L951.5 movement, which has a power reserve of 60 hours. It is assembled twice and features a column-wheel control, a precisely jumping minute counter, and a flyback function.

This one-of-a-kind timepiece truly goes beyond what meets the naked eye; it is Lange’s commitment to making a lasting impact. “The Prince’s Trust enables children and adolescents to recognize and meaningfully use their potential. We not only support this goal, but we also share it: For 25 years now, as a training company, we have been experiencing the promotion of younger generations significantly contributes to the success of our manufactory,” says Schmid. “All those who want to help us show younger people their potential are cordially invited to actively attend the auction at Phillips in Geneva.”
