The Haute Minute

A year ahead of the historic games, Omega honors the 2016 Olympics with the Seamaster Bullhead Rio 2016.

In almost exactly a year, the world’s most celebrated athletes will meet in Brazil for the 2016 Olympic Games. In honor of the forthcoming games, Omega is introducing the Seamaster Bullhead Rio 2016 Limited Edition, a timepiece that exalts the tradition and majesty of one of the world’s oldest sporting competitions.

Launched at a recent special event in Rio de Janeiro, the olympic timepiece bears a number of references and tributes to the 2016 games. The blue leather strap serves as a link to the logo of the 2016 Olympics, which is also blue. Subtle stitching runs down the side of the band in green, red, yellow and black, representing the iconic olympic rings. The colors of the olympic rings are also present on the rotating inner-bezel.

The shape of the case also has a link to the history of sport. This style of watch was first released in 1969 and was used by rally drivers to time their laps.

The Omega Bullhead “Rio 2016” also features a central chronograph seconds hand and a 30-minute recorder at 12H. The Rio 2016 Olympic Games logo is stamped on the caseback. The watch is also built with Omega’s exclusive Co-Axial calibre 3113.

The timepiece is limited to only 316 pieces. The very specific number signifies the 3rd time that golf will be played in the event, as well as 2016, the year of the games. All of these thoughtful references to the games are sure to make the Omega Bullhead “Rio 2016” a valued collector’s piece.
