Watch Collection Of Henry Graves Jr. Up For Sotheby Auction

Thirteen Patek Philippe timepieces once belonging to collector Henry Graves Jr. are to be auctioned at Sotheby’s on June 14.

Graves (1868-1953) was born to a banking family and amassed about 40 extraordinary watches over four decades, including some of the most complex pieces ever made.

His 1933 Patek Philippe “The Henry Graves Supercomplication” fetched $11 million, the highest price ever paid for a watch at auction, at Sotheby’s in 1999.

The 13 Graves watches have never been published or appeared on the market. They come from the estate of Graves’s grandson, Reginald “Pete” Fullerton, Jr., who died last month.

Fullerton inherited his grandfather’s passion for watches and assembled a collection of his own. His 41 Patek Philippe and Breguet watches will be included in the auction.
