Celebrity Chef Gordon Ramsay Buys Vintage Rolex Submariner

Television personality and celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay has made news with his purchase of a stunning new Rolex timepiece. The Brit, who shot to fame with his television show Hell’s Kitchen, has become a society fixture, recently being appointed to the OBE (Order of the British Empire) and frequently spotted socializing with celebrities like David and Victoria Beckham.

According to the London-based newspaper The Sun, Ramsay “left his wife Tana to do other shopping before the big day [Christmas] and popped to the Vintage Watch Company in London to buy himself a rare Submariner model. He said he was looking for himself when he was in the store and he likes it because his pal David Beckham’s wife Victoria loves the place too.”

The Rolex Submariner has a storied history in the world of Haute horlogerie. First introduced in 1953, the Submariner was the first timepiece to be guaranteed waterproof. The first model, which could withstands depths of up to 100 meters (330 feet), became to the go-to for divers, military personnel and even our favorite fictional spy, James Bond. Since its debut, the Submariner has become one of Rolex’s best-selling timepieces, with vintage models highly coveted by watch aficionados.
