Richard Mille declared 2014 the “year of the woman,” and followed through on his promise with a host of beautiful creations, including the spectacular Tourbillon RM 19-01 Natalie Portman.

Named after the Academy Award-winning actress, the RM 19-01 received a standing ovation for its stunning design, featuring an 18K white gold spider trapped inside the brand’s iconic tonneau-shaped case. Both are beset with diamonds.

The spider itself forms an integral part of the movement, with the abdomen of the spider actually supporting the bridges of the tourbillon, and its legs supporting the two winding barrels.

Natalie Portman’s design takes on an entirely new role with this one-of-kind ruby-set RM19-01. The new timepiece, the second from the Natalie Portman and Richard Mille collaboration shows how versatile a watch can become, given a bit of invention and imagination.

This high jewelry watch features a white gold case and spider set with 818 baguette-set rubies. The result is a more colorful and feminine design.

Inside, both watches are powered by the RM19-01 manual winding tourbillon caliber, which is assembled around a black rhodium-plated, 18K white gold black sapphire set baseplate.

But sometimes, it’s what’s on the outside that counts. The ruby-set Tourbillon RM 19-01 Natalie Portman is a unique model, priced at $1,500,000 and exclusive to the North American market. Meanwhile, the diamond-clad version is limited to an edition of just 20 pieces worldwide, and is priced at $635,000.
