Patek Philippe took part in Geneva’s Children Action Charity on Monday night, and raised a cool CHF 1 million with the sale of a unique model made for the occasion. That’s approximately $ 1,000,000 with all the proceeds going to the Swiss charitable foundation, which provides medical and psychological aid to children in need.

While the Swiss watch brand is getting used to six figure watch sales at auction, it is very rare to see a brand new model reach the same landmark. But collectors fought hard to add this unique Patek Philippe Ref. 5396T to their watch cabinet.

Specially designed for Children Action Charity, this unique timepiece in titanium features a sapphire-crystal case back marked with the indication “Children Action 2015,” as well as a satin-finish with blue accents on the dial and the hands which make it different from the brand’s commercial Ref. 5396T watch.

Patek Philippe has been participating in the Children Action Charity since 2007, when it presented a unique Patek Philippe Calatrava 6000T. Two years later, the Swiss brand sent a one of a kind 5180T under the hammer, and it struck again in 2012 with a unique Patek Philippe World Time Ref. 5131J which raised CHF 520,000.

While these watches house very different complications, each one is made from titanium, a metal that Patek Philippe rarely uses in its watches, and the very reason these auction pieces are so valuable.
