On October 6th, Sotheby’s held an Important Watches auction in Hong Kong featuring a stunning collection of rare and unique timepieces from brands like Patek Philippe and Cartier. When all was said and done, the auction achieved an impressive HK$107.2 million / US$13.7 million, with many lots easily outearning their pre-auction estimates.  Here are the five watches that fetched the biggest price tag at the auction.

Lot 2219: Patek Philippe, An Exceptionally Rare Yellow Gold Double Crown World Time Wristwatch With 24 Hour Indication And Fine Guilloché Dial Ref 2523/1

Info:  A brilliant example of the World Time mechanism, this exceptionally rare Patek Philippe Ref. 2523-1 was made in 1968 and is one of only 20 such pieces ever made. It features an alluring waved guilloché pattern dial and is one of the most iconic models Patek Philippe has ever produced.
