Innovative watchmaker Richard Mille has unveiled a new limited edition black version of their RM 055 Bubba Watson for the European/Middle East market. Originally introduced last year, the RM 055 model pays tribute to American professional golfer Bubba Watson, who has been part of the “RM Family” since 2011.

The RM 055 Bubba Watson black features a bezel made from ATZ, an extremely rigid and scratch-resistant material which boasts an unchangeable colour. The case middle and back are in grade 5 titanium with a protective white rubber casing. This is based on the principle of rubber being injected at high pressure around the titanium component. This injected elastomer isolates and absorbs any vibration. At its heart this timepiece bears a Calibre RMUL2 manual winding skeleton movement with hours, minutes and seconds.

The skeletonised bottom plate and bridges have been subjected to thorough validation tests for stress resistance. A GLUCYDUR 4-arm balance wheel with variable inertia ensures reliability in the event of impact as well as during assembly and disassembly of the movement. As a result, there is no need for an index plate, and it is possible to adjust the inertia more finely and more frequently directly on the balance wheel using 4 adjustable small weights. A double barrel system helps improve torque stability while reducing pressure and wear on the teeth, bearings and pivots, resulting in improved performance.

This limited edition RM 055 Bubba Watson black is only available in Europe. According to Richard Mille a limited edition will be produced for the Americas in the fourth quarter this year, so stay tuned for details!
