Project Orca, A Superyacht Beyond The Seas

Project Orca is a 213-foot (65 meters) long Italian superyacht design with the look and colors of a killer whale.

The four decks, helipad and the luxury within Orca will make any voyage of the seas a very pleasurable one. And much like an the marine mammal, the ship is equipped to sustain cold temperatures.

The “whale-sized” Orca, designed by Rosetti Superyachts in Ravenna, Italy, will be able house over up to 12 guests and 14 crew members. Inside, apart from an owner’s apartment, multiple guest suites and crew cabins, the vessel will have a main dining room, gym and study. Outside in the elements, an elevator, helipad, ample lounging space and the potential for an infinity pool.

Rosetti Superyachts developed Project Orca with Meccano Engineering, who made the engineering, exterior design and overall naval architecture of the ship. Orca will be able to navigate 5,000 nautical miles, and up to 7,000 going at approximately 12 knots. The garage will be able to hold a tender boats, jet skis and more.

“The organic design traits mimic the orca or killer whale, the largest and most powerful member of the dolphin family,” says Fulvio Dodich, Chairman of Rosetti Superyachts. “Instantly recognisable by their distinctive black-and-white colouring, these sea mammals roam the world’s oceans from the Arctic and Antarctic to the Tropics, which is exactly what our explorer yacht is designed to do. We have already done the concept engineering and completed the technical specifications for Project Orca, and if we sell the boat tomorrow and want to make a start on it, we can begin construction.”. Orca would approximately take 36 month to build.

“The organic design traits mimic the orca or killer whale, the largest and most powerful member of the dolphin family,” Dodich continues. The radar mast is in the shape of a dorsal fin, giving the ship even more of a resemblance to an orca.
