Officine Panerai have announced the release of a collection of Special Edition watches to celebrate their new boutiques in Bal Harbour, La Jolla, Palm Beach and Las Vegas. Each of these special timepieces will bear a unique engraving to represent the geo-cultural spirit of each of the new boutiques. This limited edition collection, called the 2012 Boutique Special Edition Series, features steel Luminor Marina, Radiomir and red gold Luminor 1950 models.
The beautiful locations of Panerai’s new boutiques have been translated into the design of these stunning new pieces. The Bal Harbour and Palm Beach watch cases feature engravings of palm tree-accented avenues and skylines, while the La Jolla models showcase the city’s famous rocky cove. The Las Vegas Special Edition watch, to be released later this year, will feature the city’s iconic “Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas” sign.
The 2012 Boutique Special Edition Series also features Panerai’s signature quality in concept and design. The company was founded in Florence, Italy, in 1860 as a watchmaker’s shop. For many years, Officine Panerai supplied the Italian Navy with precision instruments for underwater special corps. The company’s designs were so highly valued that many of the pieces they developed at the time, including the Luminor and Radiomir watches, were classified as military secrets until 1997. Since that time the company was purchased by the Richemont Group, which launched the brand on the international market. Officine Panerai continues to develop and produce its high-calibre watches, a blend of Italian history and Swiss craftsmanship, manufactured by the company’s own site in Neuchâtel, Switzerland.
