OMEGA Timepiece Featured On “Mad Men”

This week on AMC’s hit 1960s drama Mad Men, an OMEGA watch was featured during a key moment on the show.

In the sixth episode of season five, Don Draper, played by Jon Hamm, anxiously awaits the return of his wife, Megan Draper, played by Jessica Paré, after a heated fight. After hours of waiting, Don frustratingly checks his watch.

Don’s featured timepiece is a vintage Seamaster De Ville from the mid-60’s with a black dial, day date function and sleek styling.

That watch—introduced in the early 60’s as an updated, pared down version of the Seamaster, eventually gave rise to a separate De Ville collection, which is still a key component of the OMEGA line today.

The stylish series is known for its close ties to iconic timepieces. Earlier this year Jaeger-LeCoultre, created a 25-piece engraved edition of its Reverso timepiece: The Grande Reverso Ultra Thin Tribute to Mad Men. The unique edition’s art deco style was praised by Mad Men series creator Matthew Weiner. The brand also ran a content through Facebook asking fans to prepare an advertising campaign, inspired by the Mad Men era for the iconic ”Grande Reverso Ultra Thin Tribute to 1931″ watch, which was won by Kaveh Hearian for his outstanding art and tagline, “Time is luxury, invest it WISELY.”
