Doing justice to its name, the Legacy Machine (LM) FlyingT was off to a flying start, winning the award of ‘Ladies Complication Watch’ at the prestigious GPHG last year. An incredible accomplishment, especially when you take into consideration that this is the very first time that MB&F tried its hand on a ladies’ watch. No wonder that the brand is continuing its path in this direction by launching two new models within the LM FlyingT collection.

Where in the previous models, diamonds got all the room to shine, the stage is now set for precious metals and traditional craftsmanship. One of the new models features a platinum case with a blue guilloché dial, while the other has a similar dial in black, yet combines it with a red gold case. The dials have an intricate pattern, which is engraved with a hand-guided rose engine. Operating one of these machines requires tremendous skill, as the slightest change in pressure can ruin a dial. The dials are made at Comblémine, the dial manufacture of Kari Voutilainen. Apart from the pattern, do the dials also stand out for their color. The vibrant blue is a perfect companion for the platinum case, while the more subdued black dial amplifies the appeal of the red gold case.

What hasn’t changed for the LM FlyingT is the movement, with its distinct stacked layout. Consisting out of 280 parts, it are the top and the bottom that makes this movement even more special. At the center of the domed sapphire crystal, crowning the movement, do we find a 60-seconds flying tourbillon topped off with a brilliant-cut diamond. By positioning it like this, the complication can be admired from all angles, as it prominently performs its mesmerizing dance. As the back of the FlyingT, we find a stunning oscillating weight with a three-dimensional sun made from red gold. It winds the movement, which has a maximum power reserve of 100 hours.

Both these two new additions to the LM FlyingT collection are limited to 18 pieces. They are a welcome addition for women who enjoy the unique appearance of this horological masterpiece, yet prefer a slightly more restraint design, meaning no diamond setting. Given their extreme limitation and the popularity of the model, it is likely that we get to welcome some more additions to the LM FlyingT collection in the near future, but for now we get to enjoy these two fine additions.
