When you opt for a watch with a chronograph, there is a lot to choose. Many brands carry this complication, and most have even more than one of them in their collection. Within all these choices the Masterpiece Skeleton Chronograph by Maurice Lacroix takes a very clear standing. Where a lot of brands try to incorporate additional complications into their chronographs to appease customers, Maurice Lacroix takes a different route. They put the chronograph complication on center-stage.
Capsulated in a 45mm case Maurice Lacroix now introduced the Masterpiece Skeleton Chronograph with blue accent. We may be biased, as we think that blue and watches are often a very nice combination, but the color gives the chronograph a very balanced look. It complements the alternating polished and brushed finishes off the case, by drawing attention, but not overly so. People will notice this watch on your wrist, but more as a sign of good taste, rather then because it is screaming for attention.
The blue on the dial is carried on in the blue alligator strap, which is fitted with a deployment buckle. This makes the watch sit securely, yet comfortable on the wrist. The chronograph is equipped with large pushers on the right side of the case, flanking the decorated crown.
Maurice Lacroix had an ingenious way in developing and showcase the chronograph movement. Caliber ML206 is exclusive to the Masterpiece Skeleton Chronograph and is one of those skeleton watches that doesn’t go overboard and want to skeletonize at any cost. Again, there is a balance. The watch gives you a significant inside look on how the chronograph operates, but it is still easy to read the time as well as the elapsed time. Maurice Lacroix amplified the three-dimensional look of the watch even further by fitting it with a sapphire crystal, with anti-reflective coating and the brand name printed on the inside. Small details like this give the watch much more depth and set it apart in the marketplace. Priced at US$ 7.400,- the Masterpiece Skeleton Chronograph even seemed to have found a sweet spot regarding value for money.
