Jaeger-LeCoultre and Aston Martin Partner Up

Harrods presents “Aston Martin and Jaeger-LeCoultre team up”

Luxe watch manufacturer Jaeger-LeCoultre and luxury automobile maker Aston Martin have teamed up to produce a stunning example of haute horlogerie combining the expertise of the two industries, the AMVOX2 DBS Transponder.

This is not the first time the two companies have collaborated; early in the 20th century the watchmaker and the automaker teamed up; in the 1920’s and 1930’s Aston Martin dashboards were composed of Jaeger precision instruments.  However, after the death of Jacques-David LeCoultre and others in the aviation and automotive instruments industries, ties became weakened between the two companies and ties were cut after the traumatic events of World War II in the 1940’s.

In 2004, Aston Martin and Jaeger – LeCoultre decided to establish ties once again and collaborated on a line of haute horlogerie watches.

The latest result of renewed collaboration efforts required intensive teamwork with Aston Martin’s technical department and Jaeger-LeCoultre’s watchmakers.  The AMVOX2 DBS Transponder is revolutionary in that it is the first mechanical timepiece that can manipulate the locking function of a luxury automobile.    The watch is only available for Aston Martin DBS owners, and the vehicle’s locks can be open and closed by applying pressure on the watch’s sapphire crystal, where a micro-version of an open/close circuit has been specifically built to fit into a normal sized wristwatch.

The AMVOX2 DBS Transponder will only be available at selected Aston Martin dealers and features 18-carat pink gold.  DBS owners who wish to purchase the watch must make an appointment with their Aston Martin dealer in order to synchronise the car and timepiece.
