Is Green Still A Trend Color, As Two More Watches Hit The Market?

There was a time, not so long ago, when green was a rare color to encounter on a watch. Now it seems to follow firmly into the footsteps of blue. This color was once a bold statement next to black and silver dialed watches but has now become another staple. In the past few years, we have seen many more watches that feature green dials and details. Will this color now become a common option, instead of a trend, especially now also TAG Heuer and Blancpain launch new watches featuring it so prominently?

TAG Heuer Carrera
Launched in 1963, has the Carrera always been an essential model for TAG Heuer. So when they introduce a new generation, you know that it will be good. The four new models all share a clean design, where form and function go hand in hand. They feature a 44mm case with inside automatic caliber Heuer 02, with its impressive 80-hour power reserve. Improved ergonomics have also been top of mind during the development. While three of the new models have a ceramic bezel, it is the one with stainless-steel bezel that stands out particularly. Donned with a dial in a vibrant color green that resemblance fresh grass, is it a stunning eyecatcher. The color looks perfect on the watch, and as the Carrera is known as the racing chronograph, it almost makes you want to go out and look for a sports car in this color to compliment it.

Blancpain Bathyscaphe Mokarran Limited Edition
While green for a watch related to car racing is not so far fetched, think of, for example, British Racing Green, it is more uncommon for a diving watch. However, it was the color that Blancpain picked for their new limited edition of the Bathyscaphe. In January of this year, Blancpain President & CEO Marc A. Hayek traveled to Rangiroa, French Polynesia. He took part as a volunteer underwater videographer in a scientific expedition dedicated to the study of the great hammerhead shark, whose name in Latin is Sphyrna mokarran. With this limited edition of 50 pieces, which is only available in the Blancpain boutiques in New York and Las Vegas, is the brand raising money for the Mokarran Protection Society. Not only the dial is green, but also the ceramic insert with its Liquidmetal minute-markers. It gives a stunning contrast to the black ceramic case, which has a satin-brushed finish. This 43.60mm large watch is powered by caliber 1318, which has a power reserve of 120 hours. The green also looks very good with the functional design of the Bathyscaphe and adds a welcome dash of color to the world of diving watches where blue and black still rule supreme.
