The City of Angels will never miss another second. Today in Los Angeles, Hublot CEO Ricardo Guadalupe announced that the luxury watchmakers have been named the first official timekeeper of the LA Lakers basketball team.

As shooting guard Kobe Bryant looked on, Ricardo Guadalupe took to center court at the Staples Center to present Jeanie Buss, the Lakers’ Executive Vice President of Business Operations, with a Hublot Clock symbolizing the new partnership. With 16 NBA titles, the Lakers are one of most successful franchises in the NBA and one of the most popular teams in the world.

Ricardo Guadalupe told us, “Signing a legendary team like the Lakers was a natural addition to our iconic partnership platform, which includes Manchester United, FIFA, and Usain Bolt, to name a few. The Lakers have been monumental in making basketball a global game and with players like Kobe Bryant leading the way with such tenacity and determination, there was simply no question for us. We look forward to working with the Lakers and are thrilled to join our families together.”

Meanwhile, Tim Harris, the Senior VP of Business Operations/CMO said, “The Lakers are thrilled to be partnering with Hublot – an iconic, global brand that symbolizes a unique blend of tradition and modern style. Hublot, like the Lakers, prides itself on the pursuit of excellence and places an emphasis on being champions in the community. It’s a natural fit for us.”

This will be the second US team partnership for Swiss brand Hublot, who partnered with the Miami HEAT in 2010 after signing star Dwyane Wade as a brand ambassador.
