November 5th was a slam dunk evening for Hublot; the Swiss brand celebrated the launch of its first timepiece with the Los Angeles Lakers—the King Power “Los Angeles Lakers”—which also happens to be the official watch for the iconic Los Angeles basketball team.

Brand ambassador Kobe Bryant was joined by Hublot partners John and Greg Simonian as well as NBA Hall of Famer James Worthy at the unveiling, which was held at Hublot’s Beverly Hills boutique.

Four Laker Girls assisted in the unveiling of the timepiece, helping Worthy, who has been credited as one of the 50 greatest players in NBA history; he was selected #1 overall in the 1982 draft and was the 1988 NBA Finals MVP, as well as a seven-time NBA All-Star.

After the official presentation, the party continued in the private Muse dining room of Scarpetta in the Montage Beverly Hills hotel, where 20 guests—including VIP watch owners and season ticket-holders for the Lakers—toasted the brand’s success.

The spectacular timepiece, which retails for $27,900, is 48mm wide and features a black ceramic, titanium, and carbon fiber case. Its decorative enhancements are in Lakers colors—purple and gold— and one of the two straps supplied with the watch is produced from an authentic Lakers jersey stitched to a rubber backing.

It is the first watch for the team since Hublot came on board as the Official Timekeeper of the Los Angeles Lakers in 2013, though Hublot has produced two timepieces with Bryant—a Hublot Brand Ambassador since March 2013—in the past: the King Power Black Mamba and the King Power Black Mamba King Gold.
