Ulysse Nardin has always had a very close connection to the world’s oceans. This is evident from their Marine Chronometer, one of their signature timepieces, but also from their diving watches. That collection is now expended with three new chronograph models with among them the Diver Chronograph 44mm Hammerhead Shark,  a limited edition of 300 pieces. The case of the watch is crafted from titanium and houses caliber UN-150. This automatic manufacture movement features the brand’s signature silicium escapement and has a 48-hour power reserve. The dial, bezel and rubber strap are all in ocean blue, while distinct red details bring the watch in line with previous limited editions dedicated to the hammerhead shark. We also find an image of this magnificent beast engraved on the backside of the case.

The first is also the heaviest as this Diver Chronograph combines a case, bezel, and strap element of rose gold with striking blue details. The watch maintains its sportive look in this precious metal as Ulysse Nardin gave the majority of the gold surfaces a brushed finish. This makes the watch perhaps even more attractive. Legibility it top-notch, as the generous size of the case also allows for a larger dial, while maintaining a substantial bezel. It enables the subdials, with running seconds as well as the minute and hour counter for the chronograph, to be more grouped in the center of the dial. This leaves space for large hour markers filled with Superluminova which combined with the bold hands, allow for better visibility under low light conditions.

Light version-1503-170-3_92While the black and titanium Diver Chronograph might be the most traditional of the three new watches, it is still unmistakable a Ulysse Nardin. The diving bezel has a distinct shape, which not only adds to the rugged looks of the watch but also makes it far easier to operate with diving gloves on. Where most brands mark the starting point of the elapsed timing function of the bezel with a triangle, Ulysse Nardin opted for a 0 filled in with Superluminova. The watch is water-resistant up to 300 meters, yet still fitted with a sapphire case-back. This allows us to admire the refined finish of caliber UN-150, which this model shares with the other two newcomers. While the heart of all these three new additions is the same, their different characters make them very appealing to a wide variety of different clients which have one thing in common; their love for the ocean.
