Luxury watchmakers Glashütte happily announced late last week that the company is on the growth path. The Saxon watchmakers have opened a new production facility in the town which shares the company’s name, Glashütte. At the reception on October 19, Glashütte’s two managing directors, Günter Wiegand and Yann Gamard, joined town mayor Markus Dreßler to cut the ribbon and declare the Manufactory officially open.

Worldwide demand, especially from growing foreign markets in China and North America, prompted the need for the company to increase their production capacity. Employees began working at the new facility in August, and already there are 50 people working at the Manufactory. The new space will also manufacture timepieces for Union Glashütte, a Glashütte Original brand also owned by the Swatch Group.

The inauguration of the Manufactory makes Glashütte one of the town’s largest manufacturers. Thanks to their increased production capacity, we’ll be hearing a lot about  Glashütte in the years to come.
