With Valentine’s day around the corner, now is the time to surprise your loved one with a gift that lasts a lifetime, like a watch. While it can witness, and time, all the precious moments you spend together, finding the right one can be a bit of a challenge. Here are four exciting options that all, each in their own way, represent qualities that can also be found in love.

Love is surprising
Sometimes you find love when you weren’t even looking for it, and sometimes, even after years, you discover something fun and surprising about your partner you never noticed before. Breguet also surprises us with a new version of their Reine de Naples. This watch, of which the original was made in 1810 for Caroline Murat, Queen of Naples, is believed to be the first timepiece worn on the wrist and comes now with a very novel hand. It is shaped like a heart that changes as it goes around the dial. This way, the hand can closely indicate the minutes even in the oval-shaped case. The hours are displayed in a window in the middle of the dial. The Reine de Naples Cœur is limited to just 28 pieces and is delivered with a matching clutch in red grained calfskin, which your lover will most likely treasure as much as the watch itself.

Spirit of Big Bang 39mm Beige-1

Love is unique
While we all need love, no love is the same. This uniqueness is also something we can find in the new Hublot Spirit of Big Bang Ceramic Beige. This watch looks like true eye candy, with its tonneau-shaped case, which is crafted from a stunning looking beige ceramic. Making ceramic in this color is quite challenging, but Hublot has mastered creating the most vibrant and unique colors in this light and scratch-resistant material since they first introduced it into their collection in 2005. With a diameter of 39mm is the Hublot Spirit of Big Bang Ceramic Beige perfectly proportioned. Inside the case, we find an automatic movement, while a dash of glamour is added by the bezel, set with 50 brilliant-cut diamonds, as symbols of everlasting love.

Love is dependable
The people we love are often also the people we can depend on. This is something that is also true for Grand Seiko‘s SBGH279. It is made entirely in Grand Seiko’s manufacture in Japan, where not a single detail escaped the brand’s designers and craftspeople’s scrutiny. It results in a very well made watch that radiates a timeless sense of beauty. Inside we find an automatic movement with a power reserve of 55-hours that runs at 36,000 vph/5Hz. This not only results in higher precision but has the added advantage that the second hand runs smoother than with a mechanical movement running at a lower frequency.

Love is complicated
As we find it hard to understand, love is sometimes complicated. That is also how we like our watches. With the Master Control Chronograph Calendar, Jaeger-LeCoultre combines for the very first time in the rich history of the manufacture a full calendar with a chronograph. While the brand is known to create far more complicated watches, combining these two classic complications is enticing. They also work very well together, as the full calendar is as charming as it is practical, while the chronograph adds dynamic appeal to it. Unlike love, is what makes the Master Control Chronograph Calendar complicated clearly visible, as the watch is fitted with a sapphire caseback, where you can admire some of the 356 parts that it consists of.
