Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons, the Middle East’s largest luxury watch retailer, is shining a light on the world’s foremost independent watchmakers at an exhibition at the inaugural Dubai Watch Week. The rare exhibition — The Rebels of Horology — will celebrate recent innovations by legendary independent watchmakers including Bovet, Cabestan, De Bethune, Greubel Forsey, Hautlence, Laurent Ferrier, MB&F, H. Moser & Cie, Richard Mille and Urwerk.

The Rebels of Horology will showcase the remarkable horological creations created by these enterprising independent brands and display how a thirst for innovation allows them to bend and break the boundaries of traditional watchmaking.

“Independent watch brands highlight the artistry and innovation of the watchmaking sector, fusing art with technology to create truly limited, and we are truly excited to launch this exhibition for the first time in the region.  As the popularity of these watches increases among collectors, The Rebels of Horology exhibition is an opportunity for all watch lovers to get an inside look at the watchmakers who have broken the boundaries of tradition and we encourage visitors not to miss the chance to meet these horological master.” said Hind Seddiqi, Chief Marketing Officer of Seddiqi Holdings and organizer of Dubai Watch Week.

The exhibit also explores the difficult and unique processes involved in creating independent timepieces. In many cases, each limited edition piece is made from scratch. Simple tools such as files and screwdrivers are used to create incredibly complex mechanics and designs, giving each watch a bespoke quality.

“Dubai Watch Week is a first for the Middle East and an incredible initiative by the Seddiqi Group. I salute them for shining the spotlight on rare artisan watchmaking, a little-known world as intricate as it is extraordinary.  Creative artisan watchmaking is made up of rare talents who have dedicated their lives to express their art. Probably the purest form of creative expression in this industry as it is extremely personal and not market driven, populated by rebels who have chosen to master insanely complex engineering assorted with unique artisanship and real hand finishing. Watchmaking which will make all our hearts beat faster,” says Maximilian Büsser, Founder of MB&F.

The Dubai Watch Week is being held from October 18th to the 22nd.
