Cvstos Pairs Classical Style with Space-Age Materials

During my years as watch editor of a men’s fashion magazine, I came to really appreciate the superwatch aesthetic – timepieces that are almost theatrically technical looking, with openworked, multi-layered dials, cases composed of avant-garde materials and innovative movements. Cvstos produces such a watch, and three new pieces in the Jet-Liner collection using an openworked movement are all perfect examples of the creative presentation of tough-guy elements.

The Cvstos Challenge Jet-Liner Carbon

The case of the Challenge Jet-Liner Carbon is composed of inlaid carbon fiber, set marquetry style behind windows cut out of a red gold (or titanium) case. Each piece of carbon is coated with seven layers of lacquer and fired in an oven to fuse the layers together. The strap repeats the carbon fiber pattern, creating the illusion of one continuous piece of fiber. The movement is the open-worked automatic CVSTOS CVS350 with black plasma treatment, or black rhodium treatment for the titanium version.

The new Jet-Liner Daedalus is similarly architectural, with a gorgeous, coffered-style bezel and an openworked dial that repeats the honeycomb pattern of jewel said to be created by Daedalus, the ancient Greek sculptor. The pattern was created by laser cutting a single block of titanium. It contains the same openworked movement as the Carbon.

The Jet-Liner Skull combines these high-tech elements with an edgy skull motif and a touch of bling, for a look that is truly original – for big personalities only! The case is steel and the movement is also the CVS350.
