Soon after yacht “Eilean” had become famous for her appearance in Duran Duran’s Rio video she collided with a ferry, broke her mast and while waiting to be fixed, sank at her mooring. Eliean was one of the last yachts built by William Fife and was left to decay and moulder under the trees near the creek she had been pulled from.

Angelo Bonati, CEO of Panerai watches, spotted Eilean in her dismay and decided not only to rescue her, but have her completely restored. The vessel, that was once unrecognizable as one of the finest yachts ever built, has now been restored to her original condition.

Every part and material used were created from searched archives at the Scottish Maritime Museum and are from Eilean’s original 1936 specifications with the exception of a few Panerai designed touches such as the barometer, hygrometer, thermometer and of course, clocks.
