Luxury watchmaker Blancpain has opened its largest boutique in the world, in the Xintiandi district of Shanghai, China. Blancpain President and CEO Marc A. Hayek helped unveil the boutique, which is the manufacture’s eighth in China.

In honor of the unveiling, Blancpain presented a unique version of the Calendrier Chinois Traditionnel. The moon-phase from the Villeret collection, which serves to determine the months of the Chinese calendar, symbolises the Swiss manufacture’s devotion to that nation’s culture. The Traditional Chinese Calendar timepiece is in platinum with a red champlevé enamel dial and a jewel-set crown. Its oscillating weight is also enamelled with the Wu Xing pictogram representing the five elements.

The 600 square-metre Xintiandi flagship is spread over two floors. Customers will have the opportunity to see the manufacture’s creations, have their watches serviced locally, or just peek in on the work of the watchmakers through the transparent workshop windows. On the upper floor is the brand’s first lounge, where traditional Swiss-made foods can be enjoyed on the terrace overlooking the Xintiandi district. The boutique will also offer an integrated customer service centre.
