Mercedes does not manufacture many GT Black Series models, but when they do the result is phenomenal, to say the least. The sixth Mercedes-Benz AMG GT Black Series that launched this year is now named the fastest production car around the famous German track, Nordschleife Nurburgring.

This fully loaded speedster was driven by GT3 driver Maro Engel. He completed the truncated 20.6 km lap in 6:43 minutes without the T13 straight. “With speeds of up to almost 270 km/h in the Kesselchen section of the track or well over 300 km/h on the long Döttinger Höhe straight, the AMG GT Black Series is significantly faster than my GT3 race car. To finally drive around the Nordschleife in 6:48.047 minutes with a production road car in these track conditions is really awesome. Like my GT3 race car, the AMG GT Black Series offers a lot of adjustment possibilities, all of which enabled me to create a setup that was tailor-made for me.” said Maro Engel. The lap set beats the Lamborghini Aventador SVJ by 1.3 seconds, the Porsche 911 GT2 RS by 4 seconds and the Porsche 918 Spyder by 13 seconds – this sets the Black Series on a higher level than its peers!

The Mercedes-Benz AMG GT Black Series is powered by the most powerful AMG engine – 4.0-litre V8 engine that puts out 720 bhp and 800 Nm of peak torque. The sports car can go from zero to 100 km/h in 3.2 seconds and attains a top speed of 325 km/h. Along with a powerful heart, the AMG GT Black Series is also equipped with front splitter, twin-blade rear spoiler, a coil-over suspension that can be lowered by 5 mm at the front and 3mm at the rear. The Series also uses impressive aerodynamics, thanks to the seven-speed AMG Speedshift dual-clutch gearbox. Focusing on the air cooling aspect, the Mercedes-Benz AMG GT Black Series uses the new carbon-fibre bonnet, with two large exhaust air outlets made from black-finished carbon surfaces guiding the warm air from the diagonally positioned cooling pack.
