Last summer, Vincent Perriard promised: “We needed to stabilize.” The HYT President confirmed the brand would “move from five pieces to 20 different references in one year […] because we want to grow; we don’t want to say small.” [Full interview…]

And so, HYT is kicking off 2015 by revealing the latest addition to its collection. So far, we only know the name of the new timepiece: the Skull. From the video, it is also clear that the watch displays hours only, while the minutes are shown by red liquid traveling around the skull. Most importantly, the new Skull watches show that HYT isn’t afraid to step away from piston-inspired designs it is known for.

Two versions of the Skull will be presented at SIHH 2015, with the HYT Skull Green Eye in titanium limited to 50 pieces, and the HYT Skull Red Eye in rose gold and titanium limited to just 25 pieces. Non-limited versions should appear later in the year. The two watches will join the H1 and H2 collection, and should be followed by the H3 shortly after.

Skull watches were in demand last year as I reported in The Telegraph Time of June 2014, and we should continue expecting watch brands to draw from this trend. Indeed, the design is very popular in South America, and Mexico in particular, which was one of the rare countries to see and increase in importation of Swiss Watches (+25%) in 2014.

Otherwise, the waiting game for the H3 continues. The timepiece, schedule for release in 2015 and perhaps debuted at SIHH 2015, will present a novel case design. It won’t be a round watch but “will display the time in a completely novel way, in a new case, and it’s a beast,” said Vincent Perriard.

We will bring you more information on the two new pieces, including exclusive pictures and pricing information, when we meet with HYT in Geneva at the end of the month. Pricing is expected to be between $50,000 and $70,000.
