1 Omega Speedmaster “Dark Side Of The Moon”
Let’s be clear. The reason we’re talking about modern moon watches from Omega is this watch: the Speedmaster “Dark Side Of The Moon.” Few could have predicted such a contemporary interpretation of Omega’s most historically important watch, the Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch. Presented in black ceramic, the “Dark Side Of The Moon” is a pioneering watch, in honor of the Apollo 8 astronauts who saw the dark side of the moon for the first time. The material, and color, were relatively new, but an instant hit. The original “Dark Side Of The Moon” is priced at $12,000.
2 Omega Speedmaster White Side Of The Moon
For every yin there is a yang, and so the dark side would make way for the bright or “White” side of the moon in 2015. Identical in its design and in the materials used for the fabrication of its case (Omega stuck with ceramic), the watch looks nothing like its predecessor. Funny how much can change by changing the colour of a watch. Hands in 18k white gold and a white crocodile leather strap complete the albino look. The White Side Of The Moon is priced at $10,800.
3 Omega Speedmaster “Dark Side Of The Moon” Sedna Black
The “Dark Side Of The Moon” did return in 2015, but Omega made a few changes, starting with the introduction of 18k Sedna Gold. A proprietary alloy developed by Omega for its extra durability, it features throughout, in the bezel, hands and applied indexes, and shines a bit of light into the “Dark Side Of The Moon.” The Sedna Black is priced at $12,000.
4 Omega Speedmaster “Dark Side Of The Moon” Vintage Black
It may be called Vintage Black, but there is nothing vintage about this version of the “Dark Side Of The Moon.” So-called because of its Super-LumiNova tachymeter scale, indexes and hands, as well as its brown leather strap, Vintage Black is nonetheless betrayed by its 44.25mm case and matt ceramic dial. It is the perfect modern Moon watch. Inspired by watches with history, but made with a pioneering material. The Vintage Black is priced at $15,000.
5 Omega Speedmaster Apollo 13 Silver Snoopy Award
“What could you do in 14 seconds?” This question, inscribed on the dial of the latest Omega Speedmaster is the catalyst behind of the extraordinary story linking the Swiss watch brand to Apollo 13. The 2015 Omega Speedmaster Apollo 13 Silver Snoopy Award pays tribute to the 45th anniversary of the aborted lunar mission, which nearly killed three NASA astronauts. Available in Omega boutiques worldwide in September 2015, this limited edition of 1970 pieces is priced at $7,350.
