Watch of the Week: Grand Seiko Sōkō Frost SBGH295

Grand Seiko has built quite a reputation by taking inspiration from Japan's impressive natural beauty and translating it in an inventive way into their watches. The new Grand Seiko Sōkō Frost SBGH295 shows this perfectly, as it captures the clear, vivid blue skies over the Sea of Japan in a hue that can typically be seen in the early winter months. It gives the sportive watch an icy cool touch that suits it very well.

Watch of the Week: Hublot Big Bang Camo Texas

The Lone Star State holds an important place in the universe of Hublot. The brand has two very successful boutiques in Texas, one in Houston and the other in Dalles, with a third opening this Spring in Austin. As Ricardo Guadalupe, Hublot's CEO, explains the love of the brand for Texas "Hublot has always been at home in Texas thanks to our incredible clients and friends. Part of our original North American footprint, we have embraced the State's bold, adventurous and independent spirit, the same values we are proud to reflect back in this unique timepiece. One of only 25, It is a special piece, for a special place and special people and we think there is no better time than the present to pause a pay tribute to the places we call home - or soon to be home - in the case of our exciting Austin development."

De Bethune Launches Dream Watch With Swizz Beatz

Grammy-award-winning music artist and producer Swizz Beatz is a serious watch connoisseur. His excellent taste and understanding of the watch industry and its heritage have led to some fantastic collaborations in the past. Now he joins forces with De Bethune, yet in quite a different way. In 2020 he challenged master watchmaker and brand founder Denis Flageollet to create a watch that unites some signature features of previous De Bethune creations into a unique timepiece. Form and function should go hand in hand, with a focus on beauty, legibility, and user-friendliness. What Swizz Beatz dreamed, Flageollet and his team made a reality in Dream Watch 5.

Zenith Colors Defy 21 Ultrablue

After the Defy 21 Ultraviolet, which Zenith introduced last year, the brand is continuing its quest for vibrant colors with the new Defy 21 Ultrablue. This combines in an exciting way past and present, as blue also played an important role in the history of the El Primero. When launched in 1969, it was also this color that underscored how unique that watch was. When we fast forward to 2021, that hasn't changed a bit.

Grand Seiko Spring Drive Chronograph GMT 60th Anniversary Limited Edition; Precious History

While tradition is cherished within Japanese tradition, they always use it as an inspiration for the future. This is all the more true for Grand Seiko, which is celebrating this year its 60th anniversary. The brand is not resting on its laurels because of this but uses this special occasion to show how far they have come in the last six decades, and their ambition to go even further. The new Grand Seiko Spring Drive Chronograph GMT 60th Anniversary Limited Edition is the perfect example of this.

Patek Philippe Launches Not One, But Three New Grand Complications

With the cancelation of Baselworld, it could have very well been a year in which Patek Philippe wouldn't launch a single new watch. However, that is fortunately not the case, as they introduce not one, but three new grand complications. While some are varieties on already existing watches, they all bring something new to the table that makes them very desirable.

Watches of Switzerland Welcomes New Black Bay Fifty-Eight In Blue

The popularity of some watches takes off the moment that they were introduced. This was indeed the case for the Black Bay Fifty-Eight, which Tudor launched in 2018. It was not only the charismatic black and gold color scheme that made the watch so instantly popular but also its size of 39mm. With that it is perfectly proportioned, breathing vintage style while being large enough to offer modern-day appeal.

Glashütte Original In Touch With Time With Their 2020 Annual Editions

Over the years, they have become a thing, the annual editions of Glashütte Original. What sets these watches apart is not that they are entirely new models, but rather that they feature the most stunning dials. In the last few years, Glashütte Original has shown us stunning dials in a 'raindrops against a windshield' kind-of-motif featuring bright colors such as orange and green. This year their approach is quite different and remarkably appropriate for the times we are living in today.

Breguet Is Betting On Blue With New Models

Blue is here to stay, not only for nautical-inspired watches but throughout the spectrum of different types of timepieces. This can hardly come as a surprise as the color often strikes just the right tone and can just as easily be worn with formal wear as well as match with something casual. However, when a brand like Breguet is also betting big on blue, donning some of its most classic creations in this color, we have truly confirmation that blue has arrived.

North America Only: Greubel Forsey And Jaeger-LeCoultre Launch Tempting Limited Editions

In recent years it has become quite a thing for brands to launch a limited edition for a particular geographical region. In many ways, this is a smart strategy. It allows the brand to cater to local tastes, offer its clients and dealers there something exceptional and limited and therefore enable it to strengthen the brands present there. Both Jaeger-LeCoultre and Greubel Forsey have aimed at North America, each with a limited edition in which the color blue plays an important role.

But there are watches with blue and blue watches. Chronoswiss shows that it is genuinely committed to this color with the Flying Grand Regulator Open Gear ReSec, which takes being blue to a whole other level.

Grand Seiko Welcomes New Spring Drive GMT

Evolution or revolution? Where most brands pick one or the other as their strategy, Grand Seiko doesn't like to be held back by such a choice, and simply applies both. While the Spring Drive movement that powers the new GMT was most certainly the latter, the watch itself is more of an evolution, as a welcome addition to a style that we were already familiar with from Grand Seiko's sport collection.

Breguet Classique 5177; The Luscious Seduction Of Blue Enamel

There is no denying that there is something special about grand feu enamel. This classic material gives a watch a unique lustre, and every watch connoisseur is familiar with the skills needed to create such a dial. In general, white is the color of choice when brands craft such a dial, but Breguet now shows us the luscious seduction when you opt for blue instead.

Even Before SIHH Starts One Thing Is Clear: Blue Remains The New Black!

With SIHH only a short week away some trends can already be established from the pre-releases of the brands participating. One of them is the continuation of a phenomenon that we have seen develop over the last few years; the rise of watches with a blue dial. In fact, we are getting to the point that we can hardly call it a trend anymore, but more the new normal as blue seems to be here to stay in full force. These blue dial beauties will hit the boutiques in 2019!
