A crew of four robbers made their way into the exhibition at Cité du Temps in Geneva and destroyed cases, attempting to steal some of the X Fathoms watches, but the robbery was intercepted by company SIC.

A representative from Swatch, which owns the Blancpain brand, stated that “most of the watches” were recovered and one of the four thieves was taken into custody. However, the destruction caused to the show and timepieces forced the watch brand to shut down the exhibit earlier than anticipated. The X Fathoms has a 9918B movement and is said to be one of the most high-performance mechanical divers watches ever created. It is self winding, has three barrels that create a five-day power reserve and includes a silicon balance spring to endure “magnetic disturbances”.

The brand has greatly explored the legibility of the watch underwater and it has central depth indications with a matte black background color to heighten the contrast and a three-colour luminescence to differentiate indications useful underwater.
