Luxury watchmaker Omega was cheering this weekend as Rory McIlroy defeated the current top-ranked golfer, Tiger Woods, at The Match at Mission Hills. The Omega ambassador faced off against Woods at the acclaimed par-73 Blackstone Course at the Mission Hills Resort in Haikou, China.

During “The Match at Mission Hills”, McIlroy defeated the world number one-ranked Woods by a single stroke in the unique head-to-head exhibition match. Though Woods had the momentum going into the weekend, McIlroy’s six-under-par 67 handily defeated Woods’ five under par. This is the second year in a row the two golf greats faced off at this high-profile showdown.

After his win, McIlroy said, “Obviously, any time I’m on the golf course with Tiger, I know that I have my work cut out for me. This was a really enjoyable event with an unusual format and I’m happy to have been able to repeat last year’s result.” He added, “It wasn’t surprising that Tiger was playing extremely well. It was great to beat the game’s best player.”
