Luxury watchmaker RJ-Romain Jerome has gone rock ‘n’ roll! The Swiss manufacture has teamed up with Mo Coppoletta, one of the world’s most respected tattoo artists, for the new Tattoo-DNA Collection.

Coppoletta, who owns the iconic Family Business tattoo studio in London, England, helped RJ-Romain Jerome capture the “sailor’s grave” (AKA the boundless depths of the oceans). The collection captures the maritime superstitions which have appeared in tattoo art for centuries. Some tattoos were made as a tribute to a certain ship or a lost seaman. Such is the case of the “sailor’s grave”, the legend depicted on the dial of the new timepiece from RJ-Romain Jerome.

The models in this collection, each version limited to 25 pieces, all begin with a 50 mm case adorned with a black PVD-coated engraved bezel. The paws found on every RJ-Romain Jerome timepieces are in steel or black PVD-coated steel.

Each version features decorative elements, with air, earth and sea threatening to engulf the boat on the dial. An anchor also features predominantly, warding off bad luck and protecting the ship caught up in the storm. Bolts of lightning flash across the sky in red or yellow lacquer, according to the version, enhanced with superluminova green emission.

The Tattoo-DNA Collection can plunge to a depth of 30 metres thanks to its 3 atm water resistance. The timepieces are completed by a black fabric strap or a nude-color leather strap tattooed by Mo Coppoletta himself.
