RM011 NTPT YELSwathed in black carbon fiber and lightning bolt yellow, the Richard Mille RM 011 Automatic Flyback Chronograph Yellow Storm has buzzed onto the holiday horology scene like a mechanical wasp, bringing with it aerospace tech, cutting-edge design, and high voltage attitude.

Like the majority of Richard Mille’s innovative timepieces, the new RM 011 Yellow Storm is immediately eye catching and truly unique, thanks in large part to its textured tripartite case, which boldly updates the Swiss innovators’ trademark rectangular design. Crafted out of NTPT® (North Thin Ply Technology) carbon—a material used in aerospace technology, nautical racing sails, and Formula 1 racing development—the case, crown, and pushers are composed of more than 600 layers of parallel carbon fiber filaments, making them incredibly and light deceptively strong. After injecting the layers with resin, the layers are then woven together with a special machine that manipulates the direction of the weft, creating the unique wood grain-like finish.

Mechanically the Yellow Storm more than lives up to the ante set up by its striking design, packing an array of highly advanced features into its high-tech concept. The skeletonized automatic winding movement with adjustable rotor geometry is pure Richard Mille, as is integration of a 60-minute countdown timer, 12-hour totalizer, annual calendar function, oversized date display, and flyback chronograph. More is more has always been the Swiss watchmaker’s chief philosophy, and this boundary-pushing edition certainly embodies that.

Boldy displayed on a yellow rubber strap with a titanium DLC buckle, the RM 011 Yellow Storm is limited to just 50 pieces and available only at Richard Mille’s US boutiques.
