A platinum Patek Philippe watch has set a new record for the highest amount ever paid for a single-dial Patek Philippe Ref. 3974, according to National Jeweler and New York auction house Antiquorum.

An American bidder paid $902,500 for the rare luxury watch crafted in 1992 and first sold in November of that year. It features a perpetual calendar, leap year indication and moon phases.

Additionally, the Ludovic Ballouard Upside Down Watch in platinum sold for $27,500, three times the estimated value.

Part 1 of Antiquorum’s April auction, Important Modern & Vintage Timepieces, featured 404 watches and was sold at 117 percent value. The second part of the sale will take place June 12.
