This morning, Patek Philippe opened the doors to the world’s largest single showcase of high-precision watch manufacturing.

Announced with great pomp almost one year ago to the day, the Watch Art Patek Philippe Grand Exhibition offers a unique opportunity for collectors and enthusiast to see some of the world’s most important historical pieces.

Organized every two years by the Swiss watch brand, the special exhibition takes place from May 27 to June 7, 2015 at the Saatchi Gallery in London.

Many international collectors booked their holidays around the special exhibit, to discover the world of the last family owned Genevan watchmaking company.

Mark Hearn, the Managing Director for Patek Philippe UK, said he was “very proud” of hosting the event in London, describing the business and tourism hub as the ideal venue for the event.

Londoners will also have the opportunity to see the Patek Philippe Royal Collection, which brings together more than 15 timepieces owned, at one point, by the British Royal family.

Overall, Patek Philippe has brought more than 100 historical watches, all part of the Patek Philippe Museum collection located in its historical building Rue De Rhone, in Geneva.

The Grand Exhibition also incorporates the much-anticipated commemorative watch collection for Patek Philippe’s 175th anniversary, presented in October 2014.

Mark Hearn says the exhibition’s objective will be to “inspire and help visitors to understand and appreciate watchmaking.”

The exhibition will be free to the public, and open from 10:00 to 19:00 weekdays and Saturdays, and from 10:00 to 16:00 on Sundays. Guided tours will be available on a daily basis, and in different languages.
