Officine Panerai 'History and Legend' Exhibition at ION Orchard in Singapore

Inaugurated on August 26, the ‘History and Legend’ exhibition held guided tours until September 6, at ION Orchard luxury mall, located on the high-shopping street, Orchard Road, where you will find the only Officine Panerai boutique in Singapore. Visitors were able to travel through time, right to the beginnings of the Florentine watchmaker, and uncover the origins of Panerai designs from the 1930s to the 1950s.

An impressive display unfolded around a full-size prototype (7.5 metres long, 0.53 in diameter) of a “slowspeed torpedo”, a human torpedo also known as Siluro a Lenta Corsa (S.L.C.), the first one was designed in 1938. At the time, commandos of the Italian Navy wore their diving suits during heroic underwater missions with Panerai watches and instruments that were specially created for them, such as the vintage wrist compass Ref. PAMPB005 (With truncated cone compass card) manufactured in the 1960’s and the Bourdon wrist depth gauge Ref. PAMPP002 (15 M) fabricated in the 1940s.

Additionally, a range of underwater flashlights were designed by Panerai, one of which was the water-resistant ELUX Torch with an illumination button with self-locking device to prevent accidental operation. At the exhibition, two extraordinary vintage models with the engraving Marina Militare on the dial were also spotted.
