This weekend luxury watchmaker Omega’s Emirates Team New Zealand won the Louis Vuitton Cup. The win at the regatta this Sunday, August 25, means Omega’s team advances to face defending champion Oracle Team USA in the America’s Cup Finals.

Three teams competed in this year’s Louis Vuitton Cup: Artemis Racing of Sweden, Emirates Team New Zealand, and Luna Rossa Challenge of Italy.

Racing through thick fog that covered the San Francisco Bay, Team New Zealand defeated Luna Rossa Challenge a final time to claim victory in the Louis Vuitton challenger series 7-1.

This year marks the 30th anniversary of the first Louis Vuitton Cup, which first took place in Newport, Rhode Island, in 1983. That first winner of the Louis Vuitton Cup, team Australia II, went on to become the first challenger in the 132-history of the America’s Cup to beat the defender and take the Cup.

We can’t wait to see if Omega’s team will do the same! The America’s Cup Finals kick off September 7, and run till September 21.

Fans of Team New Zealand can get geared up for the Finals with the Seamaster Diver ETNZ limited edition, a sport timepiece designed by Omega which celebrates the team’s campaign to claim the America’s Cup.
