Luxury watch and writing instrument maker Montblanc has unveiled a unique creation for Abu Dhabi. The Swiss manufacture created a ruby-encrusted pen to celebrate the new Montblanc boutique at The Galleria luxury mall in the UAE capital.

According to Gulf Business, the Ruby Fountain Pen is worth approximately US$1,143,479 (Dhs4.2 million). The one-off piece features 351 diamonds and approximately 315 rubies, with an 18K gold rhodium-plated nib. The Ruby Fountain Pen will be sold exclusively at Montblanc’s new boutique.

Maxime Harrar, the managing director of Montblanc in the UAE, told Gulf Business, “Our customers are very discerning, so we try to do our best by bringing some exceptional pieces. It’s our way to honour the customer and honour Abu Dhabi, it’s not only the potential of sales. We decided to come here with this collection because we do believe that the future potential for growth will come from this region.”

The boutique will also carry Villeret Second Authentique Haute Joaillerie series timepieces in 18 carat gold, white diamonds and rubies, and a Grand Régulateur Nautique Timepiece Set comprising a white gold wristwatch chronograph and a large navigational clock.
