When Maximilian Büsser founded MB&F (Maximilian Büsser & Friends) in Geneva in 2005, he did it with the support of 6 farseeing watch retailers from four corners of the globe who believed in his concept and helped it to grow. One of them was Dubai-based Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons, whose business begun in the 1950s has developed to become one of the largest in the world today.

Ever supportive, the Seddiqi family even went so far as to open an MB&F M.A.D.Gallery in Dubai in January this year, and so it seemed only natural for MB&F to show its gratitude with a special 13 pieces limited edition of the Legacy Machine No.1 – the LM1 M.A.D. Dubai.

Launched in 2011, double prize winner at the GPHG in 2012, the Legacy Machine N°1 is already outstandingly special. Its three-dimensional structure, with an exceptional 14mm centre balance wheel floating above the movement and dials, completely independent dual time zones, and unique vertical power reserve indicator, is visible inside a 44mm x 16 mm case with a high domed sapphire crystal on top and sapphire crystal on the back.

So what makes this limited LM1 M.A.D. Dubai edition even more special? First of all, for the first time, the Legacy Machine is made with a Ti-6AI-4V (grade 5) titanium case. Secondly, the movement main plate is a striking green in honour of the colour symbolic of life and nature so precious to the Middle East and what’s more, MB&F has opted for the very difficult to execute Chemical Vapour Deposition (CVD) treatment, for a green colour that adopts hues of blue or purple depending upon the light.

As a final sign of recognition, the numerals on the home time sub dial are Arabic-Hindi.

Inside, the beautifully hand-finished in-house movement of 279 components bears the names of its creators Jean-François Mojon (Chronode) and Kari Voutilainen.

Manual winding with a power reserve of 45 hours, hours and minutes with totally independent dual time zones are displayed on two dials, with the left crown at 8 o’clock for setting the time of the left dial, and a right crown at 4 o’clock for setting the time of the right dial and winding.

Complemented with a black hand-stitched alligator strap with titanium buckle, this limited edition timepiece is available exclusively at the MB&F M.A.D.Gallery in Dubai, priced at AED308,000 (approx. USD84,000).
