Strapped to equestrian events since its nascence, Swiss luxury watchmaker Longines marked this year’s edition of the His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Endurance Cup with a new addition to its Longines Equestrian Collection.

On January 7, Longines once again served as Presenting Partner and Official Timekeeper at the 160 km-long, multi-stage riding competition that swept the sandy terrain of Dubai International Endurance City course.

Humaid Matar Rashed Al Mazrooei rode Rajas of M7 Endurance Stables to victory. He beat some 263 riders through five loops of 40 kilometers, and two stretches of 35 kilometers, 32 kilometers and 18 kilometers. The grueling race took its toll on most competitors and by the end only several riders still pounded the sand.

To mark Mazrooei’s feat, Longines presented him with an elegant timepiece. At the event, the Swiss horologer also revealed a new lady model of the coveted equestrian line. The novel L6.130.0.71.2. watch surely carries on Longines’ equestrian legacy, which includes various partnerships and series like Longines FEI World Endurance Championships and the Endurance Rides.

The top five riders are:

  1. Humaid Matar Rashed Al Mazroui, UAE (Rajas) 6 hours 43 minutes 27 seconds
  2. Mansour Saeed Mohd Al Faresi, UAE (Tiswan Fageole) 6:43:28
