Jaeger-LeCoultre has decided to use the “nuclear option” of haute horology; paving over its new Rendez-Vous Art with diamonds, literally canvassing every square millimeter of the case with them. Or, if one prefers a little color, a variant cast with blue sapphires and rubies is also available.

The decadent new timepieces were conceived to pay homage to the Venice International Film Festival, which counts this as its seventh year partnering with Jaeger-LeCoultre.

The Venice International Film Festival has been premiering future art house and box office hits for 69 years. Jaeger-LeCoultre’s high-profile presence on the red carpet belies a humble, behind-the-scenes presence for the company, whose charitable work for the group Emergency has directly touched the lives of civilians in 16 war-torn countries. Emergency’s work in Anabah, Afghanistan has recently led to the opening of a maternity center dedicated to the health of both mother and child.
