No fewer than twelve new Panerai timepieces were presented at the “Panerai: Dive Into Time” exhibition at the Marino Marini Museum in Florence last month. Among them was the outstanding made on order Radiomir 1940 Minute Repeater Carillon Tourbillon GMT already detailed for you by Haute Time.

Happily, not all of these new timepieces are made on order, and some have already started to arrive in stores. Here are six from the Luminor Marina family, updated with the new in-house automatic P.9010 movement redesigned for lighter, thinner watches.

PAM00661

Sharing the functions and technical characteristics of the new P.9010 calibre, the models in this new collection show central hour and minute hands, small seconds at 9 o’clock and date at 3 o’clock. An additional feature of the calibre is the hour adjustment with jumps of one hour forward or backwards without interfering with the minute hand and automatically connected to the date indicator for easy time zone changes.  In all steel versions, the movement can be admired through the sapphire crystal porthole in the caseback.

The big change compared to previous models is one of size… The new P.9010 calibre has a diameter of 13¾ lignes and is just 6mm thick, allowing for a case thickness of just 13.2 mm for the 42 mm models, and 15.6 mm for the 44 mm models. It is these dimensions, and also the finish, the materials and the dials, that give each of these models a look that is unique yet so unmistakably Panerai.

Five are in cases of AISI 316L polished steel:
