For today’s inaugural edition of Haute Woman, we’re reviewing the Malte Lady by Vacheron Constantin. This 18K white gold timepiece features a beautifully curved case that makes it clear it is no re-worked men’s model.

The Malte Lady begins with a beautifully rounded 28.30mm x 38.75mm tonneau case, designed to hug a woman’s wrist. At just 7.28mm thick, it is ideal for both slipping under a blouse, as well as taking centre stage on a more dressed-up evening. The bezel is set with a row of 50 round-cut diamonds, while the center of the silvered, sand-blasted dial is paved with a further 142 round-cut diamonds.

The dial features two applied Roman numeral hour-markers at 12 and 6 o’clock, while the rest of the hours are indicated by baton-shaped markers. Powered by a Caliber 1202 quartz movement, this model’s functions include hours and minutes.

The fact that this timepiece features a quartz movement is perhaps the only mark against it, particularly since Vacheron Constantin equips some of its most beautiful women’s creations with mechanical movements (as we saw in the Métiers d’Art Florilège collection).

However, given the Malte Lady’s slim proportions, the watchmaker’s choice is understandable. It is also worth noting that this timepiece does have the added benefit of being water-resistant, tested at a pressure of 3 bar (around 30 meters).

The Vacheron Constantin Malte Lady Diamond-Paved Center is completed by a grey stitched-tip satin bracelet with an ardillon buckle in the shape of a half Maltese cross, set with 21 round-cut diamonds. It retails for $33,600.
